Stained/Polished Concrete

Stained concrete flooring offers limitless design options. There are a vast amount of concrete stain colors to choose from, and you can also create patterns, designs, and logos. This flooring option is suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces and can be done over your existing concrete slabs.

Stained Concrete

Stained concrete is one of the most common types of interior and exterior concrete finish. This is due to stained concrete’s versatility. Stained concrete can be installed on both freshly poured and existing slabs to achieve a wide variety of finishes, and is commonly used in both residential and commercial installations.

What is Stained Concrete?

While an oversimplification, stained concrete is a concrete slab that’s had some sort of color added to its surface. The complexity in this topic comes from the fact that there are several different categories of concrete colorants, each with ideal installation settings and different downsides and benefits. Unlike paint or other concrete coatings, concrete stain penetrates the surface of concrete, leaving a finish that’s unlikely to chip or scratch. Like wood stains, most concrete stains are semi-translucent, allowing you to see the natural beauty and variation of the concrete surface through the stain color. A concrete stain can often be installed quickly and at a cost similar to or lower than most other flooring options.

What colors can you stain concrete?

Staining offers a wide array of color options. Acid stains come in variegated earth tones, while water based stains come in more vivid colors. That being said, colors can be customized by diluting or blending with other shades. See color charts

Polished Concrete

Polished concrete is a type of flooring installation that utilizes the existing concrete surface to create a durable and attractive finished floor. Originally developed as a commercial installation, concrete polishing is now widely used in residential, retail, and commercial applications. It can be stained and colored during the polishing process to add custom coloring to you floor.

What is Polished Concrete?

Polished concrete is a process completed by grinding concrete surfaces with several steps, and with progressively finer diamond abrasives. This process is very similar to polishing natural stone, such as a granite countertop, and leaves the concrete surfaces with a similar feel and wear characteristics. Polished concrete is much more durable due to the fact that there is no sealer layer on the surfaces of the concrete to wear or fail.
